Excursion Planning

Out on Saturday doing some preliminary work for the next club excursion it was not all about flowers, but the scented sundews were eye catching. Hopefully there will be lots of orchids and lilies if the number of leaves are anything to go by if we decide to head north of the divide on September 8th. We canvassed the Sandon and Muckleford Forests and around Chewton.

Even an old mullock heap had colour and variety.

An interesting find was a Bushell’s coffee jar with lichen beginning to take hold. Apparently these are collectors items but this one was minus the lid.

This is one of the many species of Rockshield Lichen (Xanthoparmelia sp.), which more often grow on rocks but can colonise many surfaces.
