Serendip Sanctuary is a great place to observe the Tawny Frogmouth. These birds are usually hard to see in the wild.

In one of the aviaries it was possible to get quite close to them and some other interesting birds.

While they look like they are asleep according to our guide if some food is waved under their beak they soon grab it.

They are nocturnal hunters and take most of their food from ground level or low branches usually around dusk and dawn. During the day they usually sit quietly not far from their mate hidden from the casual observer.
