Red-anthered Wallaby Grass

This time of year in many patches of bush around Ballarat you may come across this grass, Joycea pallida. It grows from a tussock and sends up tall flower heads and the anthers on the grass flowers are quite striking giving it the common name of Red-anthered Wallaby Grass
