Bearded Greenhood Orchid

Seen in early October in the Muckleford forest was the Bearded Greenhood orchid Pterostylis plumosa.  The flower is about 40mm long.  The upper hooded part is translucent with a network pattern of dark green lines.

  1. The Friends of the Box Ironbark forest website http://www.fobif.org.au/2011/10a-greenhood-traps has photos of greenhood orchid trapping a gnat. The name that they used for the bearded greenhood orchid was Plumatichilos plumosa
